Where is Galena, Alaska?  Galena is located in Alaska’s vast interior, and we are about 300 air miles west of Fairbanks on the north bank of the Yukon River.

How do you get to Galena?  Galena is off the road system, which is generally referred to as “Bush Alaska”.  As such, we are accessible only by air (year round) or by boat/snowmachine (seasonally).  We are served by daily flights from Era and Warbelows.

How cold does it get?  Most folks will say it’s not as cold as it used to be, but we still see temperatures of -50 or -60 each winter for at least a little while, and temperatures of -30 to -40 are common.

How hot does it get in the summer?  As is typical of interior weather, temperatures vary widely during the summer months, and you should be prepared for highs in the 90’s and lows in the 40’s.

What is the population of Galena?  Our current population is very close to 600 residents.
